"Something important I learned about this week was that abstinence is the safest route. My boyfriend has been pressuring me to have sex and this has helped me to say no."
Girl, age 14

"Even though I have heard a lot of this already, the message comes across differently now that I'm 16. It sure is more important for my friends and me now that we are older. I hope we keep bringing this stuff up even as we get into our Jr. and Sr. years. We need to be reminded. Thanks for being here. It's making a lot of sense to us, really. Thanks again."
Girl, age 16

"I liked everything, even though some of the things grossed me out. But it was fun learning all this. The examples and comparisons with this subject were great and it's real fun. Keep up the great work."
Boy, age 15

Linda Theis, Relationship Educator

Character, Abstinence, Relationships, Education (C.A.R.E.) Program

Linda Theis, Relationship Educator, uses interactive and creative teaching techniques and is welcomed into every health classroom in the thirteen schools encompassed by Hancock County. This year she will present how to have a safe and healthy future to students at Arcadia, Arlington, Cory-Rawson, Liberty-Benton, McComb, McComb Middle School (in Hoytville), Vanlue, Van Buren, Central, Donnell, Glenwood, and Findlay High School.

We are starting the eighth year of the C.A.R.E program in Hancock County and Findlay City Schools. Throughout the year Linda Theis talks to teens in grades 7-10, telling them the benefits of saving sex for marriage. It is a five day course and about 2/3 of the teens in Hancock County have already decided not to engage in risky sexual activity! The impact of this program on the teens in our area is profound.

If you like to know more, or have Linda speak to a community group, please contact her at Women's Resource Center                     (419-424-9948), or by e-mail at care4teens@hotmail.com.

Campus Connection

We truly value our relationship with the University of Findlay and their many students that we have the opportunity to meet with every year.  We partner with them in the fall to offer sessions for their freshman seminar classes, for which we provide the latest in research pertaining to relationships, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases.  There are power points, brochures, and pertinent information available to them for personal use or for research papers, class presentations, etc.
